I'm terrible at endgames

@azuaga i just had a deeper look and i think that also leads to a draw, but with his king on the 7th rank and mine on the 2nd i wasn't that comfortable with the idea of chasing after his g pawn if he decided to advance it instead of taking on the h file after Kxg7.

Basically with 54. g5 it gave me some attacking tempo as well, whereas with 54. kg2, I'd be chasing his advancing pawn and worrying about whether his king could take my undefended h pawn without losing his g pawn at the same time (turns out it couldn't anyway).

Hello, I agree with the point that @achja made. Usually lower rated players win against one another in the opening or middlegame and they really don't learn anything about endgames. Then when their positional play and tactics are let's say elo 2000 their overall rating will still be 1700. Then they ask why, and a lot of times the answer is they don't know anything about endgames. For example more experienced players can go to drawish rook endgames right after the opening where their rook position is a little bit more active ant that will enough to win every game against you. I recommend this playlist of 3 endgame lessons (www.youtube.com/watch?v=6-nhpuouUkE&list=PLhGeKsjHa5nz6KYmyXRtrVunc0oar82h7) , it includes the most important information, and I am sure you will feel A LOT more comfortable after watching those in your own games.

Good luck ! :)
