That New Chess Server

Hi,

I don't know if this is allowed in here, if not mods, please remove it.

I am happy with Lichess, and its free, so I probably wont be going anywhere. But sometime today a new chess site will be up and running. It seems to be targeting as a rival to Chess.com but does have some free play.
I know lichess allows us to discuss Chess.com, but I dont think it is ethical to name the site, but I am sure google will help you find it.
I am not sure exactly if / when today it will be up and running properly, I have tried and it does not appear to be live yet. It appears to have some powerful backers (Kasparov has put his name to it) and a few neat new ideas.

I will take a look when it is live ( you can see features now) but would be interested to know others thoughts.
Yeah, no idea what you are talking about and have no idea what I would be googling to find out.
# 2 Top result when you google chess site launch 26th March
http://chesssupersite.com

Thoughts: looks really dated (almost like a 90s geocities website), terrible URL (how many Ss are there? how many did I already type?), no tour or anything at all without signing up, "emperor Garry Kasparov???"

No thanks.
Yes, I agree the layout looks clumsy, but I (limited It knowledge) believe it is a beta site atm and thought that meant not fully developed

Being as you provided the link ; ) I also found this about the company who run it

LOL well they liked my idea of the Grand Prix Tournament Series: "The Chess Supersite Blitz Grand Prix is a series of 10 online tournaments held on the last Sunday of each month at 1 PM Eastern, starting March 27." $30k prize fund!

Wesley So is involved.

Looks interesting and as though they want it to really go somewhere.

This sort of thing is good for lichess as it may keep the developers on their toes.

On the downside, the developers here have never been very good at listening to what users ask for - lichess is someone;s toy that we can play with if we like, which is fair enough - so we could lose some players to this interesting project.

I'd certainly consider $40 a fair price for a year.
any chess site called chessupersite is either a piss take or doomed for failure.
"There was a problem signing you in, please try again."

That's too bad.
