Sponsoring A Cup?

Hi

I readthe latest news on the upcoming cup "chess whiz cup" and if im not mistaken it is a special cup sponsored by the member chess whiz ? which leaves me wondering, can anyone sponsor such a cup or is this an exception thing?

I ask because I would be interested in sponsoring an Antichess Cup, with triple the prize amount to promote this variant.

is such a thing possible ?

Send your proposal to lichess.contact@gmail.com and have the management decide. I doubt anything will be done though. While ChessWhiz has sponsored two cups on Lichess, both were on a commemoration event (new variants were made) and the event was more important than the prize, and on the other hand Antichess hasn't really grown to warrant a "celebration".

Well, I think lichess has succeded in promoting the variant to a considerable degree, and more and more chess players have taken an interest in this variant including several NM's and IM's :)

I don't know why they would turn down the opportunity. How much they'll advertise it is a different story.

@AM I suggest that you should think about how to reform Antichess instead. The current version of it can be solved any time soon.
